Fall Door Hangers

If only I was one of those crafty people who could get in the groove 3-6 months BEFORE the season, maybe I could sell some of the stuff I enjoy making. Until then, I will decorate my own house and possibly give some stuff away to my friends and neighbors.

A couple weeks ago I was leaving my local Hy-Vee grocery store when a burlap pumpkin caught my eye. Even though it was cute it was obviously commercially made and I knew I could make something better. A quick trip to Hobby Lobby armed with my 40% off coupon, I bought some burlap and paint. The finished product is below just in time for fall. In case you have noticed, I need to open that bad boy up to add some more stuffing aka torn up brown paper bags. I could have used store bought batting but in order to save some cash I went with something laying around my house.

Not only is October a time of gourds, falling leaves, crisp air and hot apple cider but in Nebraska it's State Cup Soccer time. Our middle daughter's soccer team is competing in their last ever State Cup and hoping for a 3-peat championship. That means I need a soccer ball door hanger. The bow is interchangeable (actually I am buying new maroon ribbon, that is just what I had in time for this weekend's games). This was an easy project but a little time consuming because I had to do so many coats of paint. Next time I will buy a tighter weaved burlap or find a way to pre-coat the fabric. I promise you, there are may tutorials on YouTube if you are interested in making something similar. If you find yourself as someone who doesn't have the time, interest or the know how, comment below to hire me to make a customized seasonal or sports themed door hanger.

Happy Fall Ya'll!!
